October 19

Amber & Andrew Meet

We met at Soju Tavern while Andrew was in Los Angeles for Elizabeth & Daniel’s Wedding and saw each other at a few events during his visit.

Celebrating Together

We celebrated together at Elizabeth & Daniel’s wedding, reception, and after-party.

October 22

Wishful Thinking

While saying goodbye, Andrew mishears Amber say “text me.” She did not actually say that. Could this have been divine intervention?

November 01

Texting

Andrew texts Amber and they’ve talked every day since November 1, 2023. We kept our long text chain messages secret for several weeks.

December 09

First Dates

We go on a virtual hike together while video chatting, and then Andrew takes Amber out for a virtual Olive Garden date night a few days later.

2024

January 07

Long Distance

Andrew asks Amber to be his girlfriend and we date long distance for about a year. We video chat while eating, gaming, streaming, and hiking – with lots of laughter.

February 09

First Visit

We are reunited in person for the first time since we met. Amber plans fun dates and activities for the whole week.

March 04

Frequent Flyers

We visit each other in person as often as we can while dating long distance. We flew to see each other on 20 trips between February 2024 and February 2025.

April 02

Backpacking Excursion

We went backpacking together with Kailey and Abigail and had some unexpected adventures due to flooded rivers in the Los Padres Mountains near Santa Barbara.

August 21

Joining Communities

We got to meet each other’s friends and families while hopping back and forth between Michigan and California. We are so thankful for the support and for everyone who gave us transport and lodging. Shout-out to Rachel who fought many hours of traffic for us and Alicia who stayed with our cat Minnie for weeks.

January 04

Promised

We are promised to be married. Andrew asks for Amber’s mom’s blessing during a visit to the beautiful Morro Bay area.

February 01

Road Trip

Amber moves to Michigan! We really enjoyed our time driving across the country.

March 07

Wintertime Activities

We settle in together during a snowy winter with board games and friend hangouts. Amber learns to cross-country ski and later kayak too.

May 24

Flying Together

Now we get to travel together instead of to see each other. We keep visiting California almost every month and are so happy for all the events and occasions we’re able to attend.

Engaged!

We got engaged at Grand Ravines park in the Fall and are so happy to celebrate the news with friends and family.
